A scene from last week's camp

A two-week INF fistula camp came to an end in Nepal's Surkhet District on Saturday. A fistula is a hole between the bladder and vagina which is usually caused by injury in childbirth, and which results in leaking urine; women with a fistula smell of urine, and many are ostracised and even divorced by their husbands as a result. The INF fistula camp was led by INF's gynæcologist Dr Shirley Heywood, and patients were accommodated using folding beds inside an INF marquee tent in the grounds of the Surkhet District Hospital. Successful surgery to repair fistulas can transform the lives of patients.
