Shining Hospital Banke (SH-IB), located in Janaki Rural Municipality-3, Banke, is a 24-bed facility dedicated to providing specialised leprosy care to the communities in Banke, Bardiya, and nearby districts in India. The hospital offers a leprosy clinic with comprehensive examination and diagnostic services for individuals showing symptoms of the disease. In addition to leprosy care, SH-IB supports patients with various dermatological conditions and delivers services for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) as part of specific project initiatives. The hospital also leads grassroots awareness activities to shift public attitudes, aiming to reduce stigma around leprosy and foster a supportive environment for affected individuals.

The Leprosy Inpatient Department (IPD) provides specialised care for patients facing severe leprosy complications, offering thorough treatment, management, and personalised support. Patients also receive valuable health education and counselling services, empowering them on their journey to recovery.

The Dermatology and Leprosy Outpatient Department (OPD) offers holistic, compassionate care for leprosy patients. This includes both active and passive contact tracing, along with proactive community engagement through Leprosy Outreach camps and orientations for Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs). The hospital also addresses leprosy-related complications such as reactions, neuritis, and ulcers, as well as managing any drug-related side effects or reactions, ensuring comprehensive support for each patient.

The dispensary provides medications to leprosy patients and other OPD patients with dermatological conditions, offering consultations on prescriptions to ensure each patient receives clear guidance and support for their treatment plans.

The hospital offers comprehensive nerve function assessments for both OPD and IPD patients, alongside physiotherapy and daily SSO sessions (soaking, scraping, and oiling). Patients receive self-care education and hands-on training to encourage proactive care. Additionally, protective footwear and assistive devices are provided as needed. SH-IB also supports self-help and self-care groups for individuals affected by leprosy, fostering community and mutual support.

The hospital provides patient counselling and advocacy services, offering vital support to those visiting through both OPD and IPD services.
